Growing Newsome Plant Swap and Salad Day

Saturday 19th May 2012
10am to 2pm
Venue: Newsome Scout Hall, Newsome Road South, Newsome, Huddersfield HD4 6JJ

We'll have hundreds of plants for you to choose from at the Growing Newsome Plant

Swap - vegetables, salad, herbs, fruit and flowers. Bring something along to swap,

or choose your plants in exchange for a donation.

There will also be family activities with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (Stirley

Farm), food growing advice, local produce and books on sale. Come and plant some

windowsill herbs, make a seed sprouter and learn how to grow tasty microveg. Free

admission. Everyone welcome.

A healthy local lunch will be served from 12 noon, including salads from Edibles in

West Slaithwaite.

Join us in the round car park in Slaithwaite 12pm - 2pm for the Climate Jobs Caravan and MASTT joint event.

Come along to the Caravan for an outdoor film screening of the 'One Million Climate Jobs' film,
learn about MASTT's 'Warmer Homes' project and find out about the Green Deal.

Outdoor event in the car park opposite Vanilla Bean cafe in the centre of Slaithwaite (20 Carr Lane, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD7 5AN).
Other stalls held on the day, please come along for a chat and a viewing.

Director John Shenk (United States 2011, 101 mins) - (http://theislandpresident.co.uk) - check out the review.

This award-winning documentary with a soundtrack by Radiohead is a must-see account of the fight by the good-humoured and passionate democratically-elected Maldives President, Mohamed Nasheed, to save his low-lying country from the catastrophic effects of global warming.

The film will be followed by discussion of the issues it raises.
