Details of Education & Research Group

Purpose of the Education & Research Group

We are all lucky enough to be in an age where information is readily available. The internet has paved the way for a mass of information and ideas to be shared. Many people still do not fully understand issues such as climate change and peak oil. The purpose of this group is to find out current information, carry out research and educate others. Currently Steve is the head of this group and is looking to expand this group by training people to be able to give workshops and talks to other groups.

What this group is trying to achieve:

*Raise awareness within the community of issues related to peak oil and climate change

*Raise awareness about the Transition Town Movement

*Encourage people to debate issues and question the norm

*Assist people in finding the resources they may need to understand the issues

*Supporting existing research and encouraging new research to be carried out.

*Hold fun events and carry out projects that aid the community in this transition

This group is open for anyone to join.

To get involved with this group please come along to our Collective Focus meeting at 8.15pm on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Slaithwaite Community Centre. You can also get involved in discussions by posting a message on our 'Discussion Forum' in the Education & Research section.
