Community garden centre

I found this website on the search for a local potato day and it looks a really good scheme, don't know if something similar would work around here

 http://sites.google.com/site/hulmecommunitygardencentre/

Hulme Community Garden Centre (HCGC) is a unique community led
inner-city horticultural project. Our mission is to bring the local
community together through gardening. As a not-for-profit organisation
we provide low-cost plants to the local community but we are foremost a
volunteer and education hub promoting horticultural and sustainability
issues to schools, colleges, the local community and wider public.

Thanks Kate83

This looks like a really good scheme. Does anyone know of any schemes like this in Marsden or Slaithwaite?

Perhaps we could find someone interested in starting one up.

Post an email to info@mastt.org.uk if you're an interested gardener or if you have land/enthusiasm to spare! :-)

This sort of thing could be incorporated within a broader community supported agriculture (CSA) project, growing fruit and veg for members, for the shop in Slaithwaite, etc.
There is talk of the shop project promoting/supporting such a CSA scheme in due course. Rather a lot of other stuff to get right first.
