what changes they would like to make in their lives to benefit the
environment.

On Sunday 15th March 2009 MASTT attended the premier of the new film 'The Age of Stupid' in Leeds.

The Age of Stupid stars Pete Postlethwaite as a man living alone in
the devastated world of 2055. The film looks at opportunities for
tackling climate change that we are today ignoring then fast-forwards
into a desolate future where climate change has wreaked havoc. It makes
a powerful case for acting fast to keep climate change within safer
levels.

The Age of Stupid hits cinemas in the run up to a crucial United
Nations climate summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the end of 2009 –
where countries from around the world will try to agree how to protect
the world from dangerous climate change.

"The Age of Stupid will open everyone’s eyes to the urgency of
tackling climate change – it presents a stark vision of a desolate
future where climate change has wreaked havoc.

"The film shows today’s dilemmas on climate change in a new light,
making us realise that by not investing in a low carbon future now we
are now passing up opportunities for a safer future".

This film really makes you want to go out and do something to change
the way the world is going! Please go and see it and please encourage
others to see it. The cost of tickets are £10 but it is well worth it
to be a part of history.

Seedy Sunday, 1st March 2009

On Sunday MASTT held a seed swap in Marsden. The event included
information stalls and a celebration of local produce. Due to the
popularity of this event MASTT may decide to hold another seed swap in
the near future. Details we be shown on the website closer to the date.

Switching on of Christmas Lights in Marsden, 2008

In December MASTT ran a local food stall at the christmas lights.
There were two types of soup sold, Carrot & Coriander and Leek
& Potato. All vegetables were sourced locally from a farm in
Slaithwaite. Homemade organic bread was also available with the soup
and all food went very quickly! Hopefully everyone enjoyed the night,
didn't freeze too much and we might see you there next year too.

A Night of Gypsy Kicks

In November 2008 MASTT held a music event, all tickets were sold
quickly and everyone enjoyed the footstomping music played by Paprika
Balkanicus and local band Klonk. Delicious homemade and locally sourced
vegetable goulash was served throughout the night and local beer was
available for people to buy.

Community Produce Market

In September 2008 MASTT held their first community produce stall.
The event was extremely successful as many people brought produce they
had grown and swapped it with other local produce. All of the fruit and
vegetables looked fantastic despite the poor summer for growing. We
hope to hold more of these produce stalls in the summer of 2009.

Film Screenings

MASTT held film screenings throughout 2008, the most hard hitting
was 'The End of Suburbia' which saw a very good turn out on such a hot
summer night. This film is mainly aimed at the American lifestyle but
it very much applies to the UK in terms of the impacts oil depletion
will have on everyday life.
