Busy Summer for MASTT!
How did it get to September already? I can't believe October is just around the corner too.
Our group has had a busy few months - In August we had a really interesting talk by Nicole Foss who was discussing the economy and transition towns. For this event we managed to fill the meeting room at Slaithwaite Civic Hall with a couple of people having to stand - Thank you to everyone that came along, we hope you found it interesting and hopefully you didn't all rush home to hide your life savings under your mattress!
At the start of this month a few of us attended a 3 day residential course at the lovely Trafford Hall in Chester. We learnt lots of things about energy efficiency in the home which we're going to use to set up our own 'Cosy Homes' energy subgroup for MASTT. We're going to start meeting up to discuss ideas for projects and to share ways in which we can save money, have warmer homes and reduce our energy use.
This month we also launched the 'Colne-u-copia' brand at an event for all the local food and drink businesses, growers, producers and other interested parties in the Colne Valley at a well attended event at Marsden Mechanics. Thank you to Steve from Edibles for organising a great event and Jane & The Handmade Bakery for a lovely local produce buffet. To find out more about Colne-U-Copia, please visit our fancy new website - http://www.colneucopia.co.uk
Last weekend we had a wonderful time at the Colne Valley Food Festival Local Produce Market. Well done to Green Valley Grocer for organising such a lovely day. We heard beautiful music from Enoch's Hammer and story telling by Susanna Meese. Locals took part in the Garlic Challenge weigh-in and MASTT's Produce Swap. I brought some of my hot patio sizzle peppers and took away some lovely homemade jam.
